Project 'Slomega'

Some pics of the welds and the grinding of'em down to make it easier to cover up, the marker light patch and under the trunk at the bottom ...

More pics of the welds and how it's been grinded down ... altho the door jam will need a little more attention with a die-grinder at the bottom ... Wheel Well is pretty much ready for some seem-sealer and a shot of the passenger side of the car.

Here's where the fun began ... took me over 90 mins to get this bumper disassembled ...

OW!, see if I can pound out that dent or work it out alittle. I also have to find a way to replace the bolt packs which I broke 6 of the 8 studs. Figure I'll use some u-bolts to reattach the bumper. Was gonna build new bolt packs, but U-Bolts are a quick fix. I want to get the car on the road, I can make these bolt packs afterwards ...

Cleaned up the end of the quarter and the back part where the taillight panel cover will bolt up onto. Also took the time to shoot it with primer as I had used a wire wheel earlier in the project to clean it up.

Thought while we're working, I might as well charge up the battery which was drawing 5 amps. The grinding continues ... slowly ... but I think I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

April 15 - Shelly, Brandan & I headed out to Selkirk to work on the Omega. We took Shelly's car. Unfortunealy the camera was left in my Skylark, back in Winnipeg.

Shelly spent the afternoon working her magic with a grinder to grind down the welds of the quarter, while Brandan changed out the EndLinks. I spent some time removing the wiper arms & cowl, and disconnected the wiper motor and removed it to gain access to the hole in the firewall. After removing the Wiper motor, I then cleaned it up and painted it up nicely. Prepared some fibreglass patches, mixed up some resin and patched up the hole on the firewall from inside the engine compartment as well as from behind the cowl.

I also cleaned and reattached the rear taillight panel piece and used a few bolts to hold it on.

Quickly install the taillights & panel cover, as well as we take apart the cowl/wiper area to fix the huge along the seem of the firewall.

Took a moment to clean & detail the wiper motor. Battery is STILL taking a bit of a charge and Shelly kepts going with the grinder.
