To get 'Slomega' ready for safety & roadworthy, the car is gonna need some work. On the agenda is replacing the old rusty quarters & wheel wells, fix a few holes in the floor and one in the firewall. The car also need a little bit of work in the front-end too. Not completely sure what I may be getting myself into here, it's gonna be a LONG project and hopefully it's nothing I can't handle. Be sure to check back often on our progress as we have over 500+ pics at the moment and we're about 85% done.

After getting 'Slomega' safetied, it's on the road but barely ... Still needs some more TLC !! |
After the Omega old motor seemed to have some better days, I soon began to look for another motor, a V8 for the car. In short, I traded a 'trunk lid' & a '73/74 Front Grill' for a running 350, but a friend of mine was looking to get rid of his old 84 Parisienne. Ended up buying the Parisienne which I knew had a solid powertrain in it. After running the numbers on the block, it turned out to be a 305, but who cares, I needed something that runs ... and the swap was on!

While he Omega was parked at my sisters apartment, someone decided to help me out a little with the bodywork by backing into the front of the car. Thankfully and responsibly, the guy lefted a note on the car. Good thing too, as I did have a witness. |
I finally got around to repainting the front clip after the motor swap, but haven't had time to touch up the rest of the car. That's basically gonna be it for the Omega for this year in terms of throwing money into the car. This is just a quick spray, as I still have alot of finishing work to do from the bodywork project from this past Spring. Again, time being my enemy!. Idealy the bodywork needs to be touched up, then the car sanded so I can then put a decent/half ass paint job on it. For the most part, the car is running and is drivable, altho still plagued with some minor powertrain and suspension issues. Those issues will have to wait till next year or until I come into some money. It's mid-August now, and I haven't spend anytime working on my nova, so it's time to give a little TLC to the Nova ... (It needs a good waxing!) |
I went on a detailing bing this weekend, cleaning up the engine bay and painting up pulleys, brackets & whatever I could to clean up the compartment. I even pulled off the hood, cleaned up all the crap. goop & oil from the underside and painted it a nice flat-black :) |
