Project 'Slomega'

Just like the drivers side, we need to make a patch piece for the inner wheel well as well as for the inner support under the quarter glass.

Would like to thank a moment to plug the Mastercraft 4"1/2 Angle Grinder from Canadian Tire. I received mine as a gift a few years ago at Christmas from my family. This little grinder has been put to ALOT of work. It's such a good grinder, that Shelly went out and bought one onsale last week. Being such a good deal that it was, Brandon also went and bought one.
The 'Slomega' project has been labelled as a "BYOG" - Bring Your Own Grinder.
Mastercraft 4"1/2 Angle Grinder, with a 11000 rpm rasting and 7A motor, available at your local Canadian Tire.

First patch piece is quickly fabricated for tac-welded in place. FIRE !!! - which was quickly put out. I guess well I was welded the patch piece, some undercoating or something inside the car had started smoking and next thing I know, I'm seeing flames and THAT'S WHY WE REMOVED the interior .... otherwise we'd probably woulda lost the car.

We take a moment to air out the car, as well as the garage and get back to patching.

Brandon gives welding a go, and did a beautiful job making this patch piece, just like Kelly & I had to do to the drivers' side and weld it all in.

Here I am cleaning up the welds from the patching. Altho most of this would be hidden away later on, I'll still know about them, so I take a moment to pretty them up alittle anyways.

One thing I've learnt doing this stuff, is using cardboard to trace and draw up a patch piece and making one of two cuts sure saves ALOT of time. Here we're making a patch piece for the inner well lip. Draw it up, trace it and cut & weld.

Time to fit the wheel well, which required some trimming here and there a few times, but again, I don't mind having to cut 2 or 3 times ... Just like the other side, when fitting it to the fender, there appears to be a gap between the lips of the inner & outer. To fix it on the drivers side, we just hammered to two together ... I played with the well & fender for 2 hours, I could not get the two together.

It dawned on me, that maybe we didn't have the quarter lining up properly with the body lines, something we never thought of on the drivers side till it too late, so here I align the passenger door.
