Project 'Slomega' |
After aligning the door, sure enough, I had the quarter out alittle and yes, it closed the gap abit ... I'm kinda thinking that's how it's suppose to be. So, I'll get a bigger hammer and fix it later.
Kelly has been sick for a few days, so I decided to wait before tac-ing on the well under he's around or I have a chance to talk to him and ask his opinion. |
Another patch piece, took minutes to make, thanks again to using cardboard for a template. Put some holes in it for welding purposes and voila!
I was really pleased with how the patch panels turned out on the passenger side. Primed them up with some primer. I think after the car is on the road, I'll be redoing some re-working of the drivers side. On our next trip out, we ended up getting the wheel well to fit in perfectly, and after double-checking the linings of the lips of the well & fender, it was decided to clamp it in before it moves or some act of god happens and we lose it's place.
I spot weld the wheel well into place, as my friend Ian who came out to give me a hand tonight is under the car checking out the floor on the car and ends up finally a couple of questionable spots.
We end up finding 2 areas of concern where we were able to poke through the floor. Ian begins to remove some interior pieces to be able to lift the carpet.
Small problem arises, we are out of spare/scrap metal to use for making patch panels. Ends up going to Canadian Tire and picking up a small sheet. Ian then draws out a patch piece that is needed for the first of 2 floor holes.
Once the piece was ready, I got in there with a hammer and trimmed the patch piece and then welded it in. Yes, things are going well ... it's just one little headache after another ... @$%$#@@!!
All welded in, and Ian then put back the floor plug and seals it up. As well, we put back all the sound damping material and carpet.
Good job Ian, and while he's busy with the interior, I continue to weld up the wheel well.
