Test & Tune @ Gimli Dragway

( September 4, 2010 )

SO!, We make our way out to Gimli for the second time this year for another day of Drag Racing with the Omega.

As soon as we get the car pitted, my dad jumps into action. Quickly takes a gander under the car and also starts to change the tires, putting on the Drag Radials.

Mom's getting her camera ready, getting over her settings, I take off to the gate to paid and register for the 'Test & Tune!'. Dad continues on the car.

We get the car registered and thru 'tech', a picture of the Accel supercoil which was swapped over since the first outting and because I can't remember shit ... I wrote down the timing we use using on the Upper Rad Support.

Dad & I sit and wait for the call to the staging lanes, the car is ready to go.

As the lanes open, and I get a few runs in ... my dad sits in the pits and watches.

The best the Omega ran at the last outting was 14.58 by myself. After I made some passes, it's Dads turn behind the wheel.

A picture of my dad standing by the car waiting in the staging lanes. After making his pass, Dad ran a 14.4199, which beats my previous best of 14.58.

On my next pass, I ran a 14.4179, 2000th of a second! I gloat alittle to my dad saying how easy it was to beat his time.

Inbetween runs, my dad was complainning about the column shifter, as he finds it sloppy for shifting manually. I quickly jumped in the car and showed my dad how I go about holding the shifter and tell him to get it a few tries. Dad quickly gets the hang of it, and makes another pass.

So, before my dad makes his pass, I told him if he could beat my 14.4179, I would buy him lunch. Well, as you could guess by the smile on his face, he shattered the best time and set a new time of 14.21. As he returns to the pit area, I had already been to the concessions and bought him lunch. (... with his own money - lol).

So, as we stand against the car ... my dad continues to remind me of his run of 14.21. My dad is quite proud of his time and now refers to me as 'No.2' or 'Loser'.

Back behind the wheel, I am determined to beat Dads best time.

Run after run, I was getting closer to dads time, but the best I could do is 14.27.

My friend Ryan comes over to see how my day went, as we begin to switch the back tires and pack things up.

Grabbing the rest of my stuff from my parents car and slowly make my way home.

It's been almost a week now, and my dad is STILL reminding me of his best run .... OH JUST WAIT!! :)
